IT Software Download Site Adds New Function

img2

The IT Software download site has added a "purchase software" link that allows lab employees to easily acquire several popular software applications including EndNote and selected Microsoft and Adobe products. The site uses an ePro like approval mechanism which sends an email link to an approver selected by the employee (or to the employee if they have approver rights). Once approved, the employee will receive an email and can download the software immediately. The software download site has proven popular, with over $20,000 worth of software purchased during its two month trial period. In the months to come additional vendor titles will be added. To see more on how to purchase software from the site, go here.

Bird Makes Hasty Exit
From Nuclear Science BBQ

Revelers at a Nuclear Science Division barbecue, held at the cafeteria Wednesday night as part of the week-long ISMD conference, had a fowl awakening of sorts when the party was interrupted by one of the Lab’s resident turkeys wandering in for a visit. That was disrupting enough, but the real party-crashing came when the bird suddenly decided to exit the gathering via a window facing the bay. Witnesses said the bird seemed none the worse for wear after its dramatic exit. There were, however, some ruffled feathers among the guests.
