Bioimaging Workshop
To Be Held in May

Cutting-edge advances in microscopy techniques over resolution scales from molecules to organisms will be the focus of the Gulliver Multiscale Bioimaging workshop May 17-19. The meeting will look at the integration of multi-modal imaging data at all levels of spatial and temporal resolution, which is essential for current biological research in bioenergy, bioremediation, cancer biology, and neurosciences. Lab speakers include Steve Chu, Chris Somerville, Carolyn Larabell, John Tainer, Robert Glaser, Jay Groves, Joe Gray, Bruce Cohen, Paul Alivisatos, and Eva Nogales. The workshop is part of a new multiscale bioimaging initiative centered at Berkeley Lab. Go here for more information and to register.

Simulation and Modeling Meeting Next Week

Berkeley Lab will host the first of three town-hall meetings on the proposed Simulation and Modeling at the Exascale for Energy, Ecological Sustainability and Global Security (E3SGS) program. The meeting will be held April 17-18 in the Bldg. 66 auditorium. Details on the meeting can be found here. Subsequent meetings will be held at Oak Ridge Lab May 17-18 and at Argonne Lab May 31 - June 1.

Workstation Support, Storage Rates Changed

Effective this month, the UNIX and Mac/PC Support groups in IT User Support are changing their rates for Time and Materials workstation support. Disk storage rates have also been reduced. For details on the changes, go here.

Next Weight Watchers Session Starts May 9

A new session of the Lab's onsite Weight Watchers meetings will begin Wednesday, May 9, in Building 26 (Health Services), from 1:15 to 2 p.m. The sessions will continue through Aug. 15. A free informational meeting will be held on Wednesday, May 2, from 1:30 to 2 p.m. (same location). Weight Watcher participants will get tips on losing weight, creating low-calorie recipes, and exercise options. For questions, call Cathy Wentworth (x5334).

Join Dance Club
At Spring Gala
