Office of Science Budget
Hike Urged by Senators

House Energy and Water Development Appropriations Subcommittee Chairman David Hobson (R-OH) and his colleagues are expected to mark up their FY 2007 funding bill this week. Of great importance to the research community is the extent to which the subcommittee will be able to meet the Bush Administration's $4.1 billion request for the Office of Science. Seventy senators signed an April 26 letter to Senate Energy and Water Development Appropriations Subcommittee Chairman Pete Domenici (R-NM) and Ranking Member Harry Reid (D-NV) asking them "to support the President's request for the Office of Science." TRAFFIC UPDATE

Major Congestion Due To Commencement Today

As a reminder to staff, the campus is holding its commencement convocation (featuring California Assembly Speaker Fabian Nuñez) in the Greek Theatre today at 4 p.m. Because of the theatre's proximity to the Lab's Blackberry Gate, drivers may want to consider alternate routes, such as Centennial Drive via the Strawberry Gate, during this time.
