Supply Chain Initiative Ready for Implementation

Jeffrey Fernandez, Berkeley Lab's Chief Financial Officer, has announced the implementation of a new initiative to streamline the supply chain and establish a new electronic ordering system (starting with office supplies) on Monday at 10 a.m. New eBuy software will allow Lab employees to acquire goods at low cost and order them from their computers. eBuy can be accessed (using Internet Explorer or Safari) at, on the BLIS website (under Lifeline Applications), and the Procurement homepage. Using eBuy requires an LDAP username and password and a valid Project ID. No registration or training is needed. Office supplies will now be provided by Pacific Supply and Safety/Corporate Express. After July 30, purchases from Office Max will only be available through Procurement. Go here for more information.

EHS Website Offers
Safety Slide Shows

1 Minute 4 Safety
The Lab's EH&S Division offers a "1 Minute 4 Safety" feature on its website, which contains slides on safety and related EHS topics. The selection of slides available has expanded since first introduced in March. The slides — designed to assist supervisors and managers — are categorized by work area and offer talking points that can be used in meetings as a one-minute safety opener, or to launch a more extensive safety discussion. New slides are added routinely. Access the slides here. Contact Nancy Rothermich (x4644) for more information.

Pamper Yourself
During Massage Week

The Health Care Facilitator wants to remind staff that July 16-22 is "International Massage Week." Whether you're a competitive athlete, home gardener, or stressed-out executive, massage can provide welcome relief. Health Services (Building 26) offers chair massages on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Call x4501 for same day appointments, or go here to make a reservation ahead of time.
