Particle Group Turns 50
Amid the celebration of Berkeley Lab's 75th anniversary, the Particle Data Group would like to remind everyone that PDG is turning 50 this year. To honor that milestone, a special program has been arranged at the Building 50 Auditorium on Saturday, Sept. 23. Attendance is free, but registration is required. Among the distinguished group of speakers are energy pioneer Art Rosenfeld, UC Santa Cruz science historian Michael Riordan, noted cosmologist Michael Turner of the University of Chicago, and Italian physicist Michelangelo Mangano. Go here for details.

Coffee Bar, Grill
Move
During Construction
Due to seismic safety upgrades in the Cafeteria, the Fresh Grill and the Coffee Bar will be temporarily relocated. Tomorrow, after breakfast, the grill will move to the Market Carvery location. Those wanting grilled items (full menu is available) are encouraged to get their lunch early to avoid congestion. On Tuesday, the Coffee Bar will move to the beverage island across from the salad bar. Both areas will move back to their original locations on Tuesday, Sept. 26. For more information on construction, contact Nick Peterson (x6314), and for the cafeteria, Peter Oshinsky (x5357).
Asphalt Work Near
Bldgs. 10, 48 Today
Due to the installation of an asphalt berm on the south side of Building 10 and above the Building 48 emergency generator, traffic in this area will be affected. Flaggers and signs will be in place during the job, so drivers are asked to use caution when passing through. |
