ESnet Connection Boosts
Idaho Lab's Bandwidth
The Idaho National Laboratory (INL) has taken significant steps toward giving its scientists and engineers dramatically improved access to computing capabilities outside of the laboratory. INL's high-performance computing infrastructure was connected in mid-August to the Energy Sciences Network (ESnet), which is operated by Berkeley Lab to support large-scale science collaborations at DOE labs nationwide. While a very small-scale connection had existed in the past, this new connection has hundreds of times the capacity, and better matches INL's envisioned computing needs. Full story.

Use of Lab Property
Employee use of Lab property, such as tools, supplies, materials and equipment (e.g., computers, cell phones, official vehicles) is confined to official job-related business activities, whether on- or off-site. See the Laboratory Property Guide and Regulations and Procedures Manual 6.02(A) for more information.
Conflict Of Interest, Ethics
Employees are subject to the Lab's conflict of interest and ethics policy through the Department of Energy contract, state law, and University of California regulations. Relevant employee activity covered by the policy includes consulting and other outside employment or business ownership and the use of Lab facilities and resources for such purposes. Employee non-compliance with these policies can result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment as well as civil or criminal prosecution.
