Summer Lectures
To
Air on UCTV
Berkeley Lab’s 2007 summer lectures will begin airing nationally in October on University of California Television. First up is Bill Collins’ talk on the future of the Earth’s climate on Oct. 1, followed by Terry Hazen’s lecture on bioremediation on Oct. 8. More lectures will air in November. UCTV is available nationwide on Echostar Satellite's DISH Network, channel 9412, and on cable in parts of California. It can be viewed in San Francisco on Comcast channel 75 from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. daily, and in Berkeley on channel 33 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. daily. The lectures will also be available online a few weeks after their premiere date. Go here for a schedule of upcoming Berkeley Lab programs, as well as an archive of previous programs.

Paving Project
To Affect Traffic
New asphalt will be installed on the road near Buildings 7, 7C, 52, 53 and 27 tomorrow from 5 a.m. to 3 p.m. To accommodate this work, numerous parking stalls will be blocked off, and Sally's Alley will be closed to traffic. Traffic and pedestrian controls will be in use, so drivers and walkers in this area should use caution.
Help Green the Lab;
Turn Computers Off
While Berkeley Lab scientists are on the cutting-edge of energy research, all employees can help make the institution itself more green. According to the state’s Flex Your Power website (and researchers in the Environmental Energy Technologies Division), electronic equipment left in sleep mode overnight will continue to draw power. Staff should plug their computers and printers into a power strip, then in the evening, after powering down equipment, switch off the strip.
