EETD Team Designs
Winning T-Shirt

A far-flung team of Environmental Energy Technologies Division (EETD) staff members is the winner of this year's SHARES Runaround t-shirt design contest. Jeffrey Harris and Laura Van Wie McGrory, who work in EETD’s Washington, D.C. office, collaborated with Berkeley-based Anthony Ma and Anthony Radspieler Jr. to design the hurricane-themed T-shirt for today's Runaround, which begins at noon. According to Ma, the inspiration for their design began with Harris’ idea to show people running around a hurricane in support of the Hurricane Katrina relief effort. The design will prompt participants to remember the victims of this year’s hurricanes. Congratulations to the EETD team. All participants will receive a T-shirt.

PEOPLE

Physicist Klein Named
Correspondent for CERN

Klein

Spencer Klein, a staff physicist in the Nuclear Science Division, is the new CERN Courier correspondent for Berkeley Lab. He takes over for Christine Celata, whose tenure as contact for the research monthly was praised by NSD director James Symons. Klein divides his time between neutrino astrophysics studies on IceCube and studies of heavy-ion collisions with the STAR detector of the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider at Brookhaven. He is looking for stories (or ideas) in the areas of particle, nuclear and astrophysics, and accelerator development. Contact him (before writing a story) at [email protected].
