Lab Hydrogen Fuel Research Gets Funding

Two Berkeley Lab projects are among the recipients of over $64 million in DOE funding aimed at making hydrogen fuel cell vehicles and refueling stations available, practical and affordable for American consumers by 2020. The funding, announced yesterday by Secretary of Energy Samuel W. Bodman, is divided among 70 research and development projects at more than 50 research organizations. The two projects, conducted by Materials Sciences Division researchers, include a synergistic approach to the development of new classes of hydrogen storage materials, and the development of nanocomposite proton conductors.
