KGO
Features Lab’s
Wiser on Wind Report
Ryan
Wiser, of Berkeley Lab’s Environmental
Energy Technologies Division, was featured commentator
last Saturday on a KGO-TV report on wind power.
PG&E is using wind-generated power to offset
the millions of pounds of carbon dioxide that San
Francisco produces every day, according to the report
filed from United Nations World Environment Day
in San Francisco. "Wind turbines today have
grown dramatically,” Wiser told KGO. “The
industry in the U.S. is growing at a 30 percent
annual rate and wind power is likely to provide
an increasing amount of our electricity supply."

Texas
E-Site Publishes
Mills’ ‘Energy Myths’
North
Texas E-News this week published the series
of common “energy myths” first developed
by Environmental Energy Technologies’ Evan
Mills at Berkeley Lab. They include such
assumptions as: buying an efficient air conditioner
or furnace will automatically reduce your energy
bill, energy efficiency and energy conservation
are the same, duct tape is good for sealing ducts,
and an appliance that’s turned off, IS off.
