Bodman Makes First
Visit to Lab Yesterday

Secretary of Energy Samuel Bodman visited Berkeley Lab yesterday afternoon as part of a regional tour of Bay Area labs. After Director Chu greeted him at the Lab at 2 p.m., Bodman toured the Advanced Light Source, the Molecular Foundry construction site, and the National Center for Electron Microscopy, and heard presentations on the SuperNova Acceleration Probe and computer visualization. Bodman also presided over an all-hands meeting held in the Building 50 auditorium. A full account of Bodman’s visit will appear in the August 19 issue of The View.

Using Movies to Pique
Interest in Science

A new website, “Science Cinémathèque,” recently has been launched to enhance interest in science and technology through the art of moving images. It features films, dialogues and articles from filmmakers and scientists. A preview of this site can be viewed here. The site is funded by a Sloan Foundation grant.
