New
‘Today…’ Screen
At Cafeteria Check-out
While
employees wait to pay for their food purchases
at the cafeteria, they can now be entertained
and informed by “Today at Berkeley Lab.”
The Information Technologies and Services Division
has completed installation of a new plasma screen
that will update daily news for and about the
Lab. It adds to a network of nine such screens
throughout the Lab and in Building 937 downtown.
Deals
Galore
at the Cafeteria
For
those who grab dinner at the cafeteria, there
are some special discounts offered every weeknight.
On Monday, employees who buy a whole chicken meal
get a free dessert for two. On Tuesday, purchase
one meal and get a second meal for free. Get a
free 16-ounce soda with the purchase of a meal
on Wednesday and Thursday. And on Friday, bring
in your lunch receipt and get 50 percent off your

Berkeley
Lab Deputy Director for Operations Sally Benson
testified yesterday before the Energy Subcommittee
of the House Science Committee in Washington on
the question: What are the Administration priorities
for climate change technology? She told the representatives
that geologic carbon sequestration is an important
component of a climate change technology portfolio
that offers the potential for deep reductions
in CO2 emissions while allowing continued use
of fossil fuels. She also asked for a "sustained
commitment to an adequate program of directed-research,
pilot-tests at regionally relevant sites and full-scale
demonstration." Read her complete testimony

Rejuvenate
Yourself
At Lab Yoga Classes
Lab
employees work hard, but they can take a break
every Monday, Wednesday and Friday during classes
offered by the LBNL Yoga Club in Building 70A-3377,
from noon to 1:30 p.m. Yoga can help relieve stress,
boost energy, improve focus, tone muscles, and
improve posture, among other health benefits.
A $5 donation is suggested for Monday classes,
while Wednesday and Friday classes cost $10. Mats
and other equipment are provided. For more information,
contact club president Rick Diamond
at x4459.
