Patricia
Dehmer, DOE Associate Director of Science, offered
a look ahead to the Basic Energy Sciences Advisory
Committee at a recent meeting. "Budget drives
everything that we do," Dehmer told the committee,
describing the status of FY 2005 appropriations,
the forthcoming FY 2005 budget request, and some
guiding principles for FY 2006 and beyond. Meanwhile,
appropriations bills may not be concluded much before

Advisor Gives Talk
Howard
Schmidt, who until recently was the chief cyber
security advisor to President George Bush, will
present a talk, "The National Strategy to
Secure Cyberspace and Cyber Security is Everyone’s
Job," at noon next Tuesday (Nov. 11) in Bldg.
50’s auditorium. Schmidt is currently the
chief information security officer for eBay. All
employees are invited to attend this talk. His
visit is sponsored by Information Technologies
and Services.
