Postdoc Survey Coming in March; Workshops in Spring

Postdoctoral scholars make essential contributions to Berkeley Lab’s world-class scientific research. This month, Interim Laboratory Director Paul Alivisatos will invite postdocs to participate in a survey, which will gauge postdoc opinions about their work experience at the Lab. The survey was developed by the Lab’s new Postdoc Initiative Committee (PIC). In addition, the Berkeley Lab Learning Institute (BLI) will offer several professional development workshops for postdocs this spring.  Go here for more information about the survey, workshops, and the Postdoc Initiative Committee.

eating appleHealth and Wellness: March is National Nutrition Month

The Lab’s Health Care Facilitator reminds employees that March is “National Nutrition Month.” When it comes to weight loss, there are hundreds of fad diets promising fast results. Unfortunately, most diets limit your nutritional intake, can be unhealthy, and tend to fail in the long run. The key to achieving and maintaining a healthy weight is adopting a lifestyle that includes nutritious eating, regular physical activity, and balancing the number of calories consumed with the number of calories the body uses.  Staying in control of your weight contributes to good health now and as you age.
