Berkeley Lab's E911 System

Fortunately, Moore knew exactly who to call in case of an emergency: Call 7911 from the main Lab site or 9911 from offsite facilities with Lab extensions. The caller's E911 information is automatically transmitted to the emergency service dispatcher. The E911 system identifies the caller's building and room number, and telephone extension, allowing emergency responders to pinpoint the caller's exact location. The Information Technology Division, in collaboration with the Environment, Health and Safety Division and the Facilities Division, implemented E911 in 2005 to provide better emergency response to the Lab.

Cell phone users should call 911. To report non-emergency incidences, call x6999.
