KQED QUEST, A Bay Area Community Science Blog

QUEST is a new series about the people behind Bay Area science and environmental issues and how their work is changing the way we live. QUEST will use all of KQED's media platforms, including a half-hour weekly program on KQED-TV, frequent news stories on KQED radio, an interactive website at KQED.org/quest, and KQED's educational network. To develop this multiplatform series, KQED has assembled an advisory board of partner institutions, including Berkeley Lab. The producers intend to draw on their partners to help the KQED staff in maintaining the QUEST interactive website.

In addition to the project's writers, producers, and other staff members, QUEST Interactive producer Craig Rosa hopes to recruit a team of a dozen bloggers with a broad range of experience and expertise in science and environmental issues. Each will be expected to post a 150-word to 500-word entry once a week on average, although in some cases bloggers may arrange to post only once every two weeks, and postings will be limited to at most five a month. Rosa will work with each blogger to develop a theme and format for his or her postings, which should focus on science, environment, or nature, either in or affecting the Bay Area; should relate to one of QUESTs's nine themes (astronomy, chemistry, engineering, physics, weather, geology, biology, environment, or health); and should "be something about which you have some expertise and/or passion."

If you're interested, contact Craig Rosa, Interactive Producer of QUEST at KQED.
