Distinguished Panel Will Serve as Berkeley Lab Advisory Board
The Berkeley Lab Advisory Board, mandated in the latest University of California management contract, will hold its first meeting on Friday and Saturday. Berkeley Lab Director Steve Chu and Board co-chairman Bruce Darling, Senior Vice President of University Affairs for the Office of the President, will host the sessions.
The Advisory Board, which reports to University of California President Robert Dynes, will meet twice a year. It will play an important role in the ongoing assessment of the Laboratory's fulfillment of contractual obligations and its strategic direction.
Among those scheduled to address the Board are Associate Laboratory Director Paul Alivisatos, who will discuss Helios, the Lab's solar-to-chemical energy research initiative ; Associate Laboratory Director Horst Simon, speaking on the future of computational science; Deputy Director Graham Fleming on campus-lab collaborations; and of Chief Operating Officer David McGraw Molecular Foundry Director Carolyn Bertozzi, will lead a tour of the Lab's newest national user facility;
