To provide a more
comprehensive listing of all activities taking place at the Lab, an online
events calendar was created. At this site, employees can view events,
search for events, and add events.
The main calendar home page lists all events taking place on the current
date, and convenient “touch” calendars allow users to click
on future dates to see what is happening on those days.
On the “search” page, users can find events using a variety
of criteria, such as specific date, date range, event sponsor, type of
event, scientific discipline, or keyword.
The “add/modify events” page allows users to submit events
that their group is sponsoring. A review page allows for changes before
final submission of the event. For those who are adding more than one
event at a time, a new form will pop up with all the same information
as the previous event, so only the details that have changed need to be
altered. This prevents the retyping of static information, such as time,
location, sponsor, and contact details.
When events are successfully submitted, users will receive a confirmation
e-mail. Events that have already been submitted can be changed or deleted
using the “modify event” function.
Events submitted to the online calendar will automatically be used in
the calendar section of Today at Berkeley Lab, as long as they
meet TABL deadline requirements. The calendar will be updated every 24
hours. Events will be posted at the editor’s discretion.
