Preventing Ergonomic Injury

Early warning signs of an ergonomic injury from repetitive motion include:

  • Tingling or numbness in hands
  • Pain: sharp, dull, or burning sensation
  • Stiffness, reduced range of motion in arms and wrists
  • Clumsiness, loss of grip strength or coordination
  • Visual fatigue, watery eyes, dryness
If you have any of these symptoms, you should notify your supervisor immediately, obtain an ergonomic evaluation, and report to Health Services in Building 26.   Future articles will explain in more detail how these injuries occur in your body and will highlight more prevention measures.   Any questions about ergonomics or requests for immediate help right away please contact Jeffrey Chung (x5818) or [email protected].
