Planning Meeting
For Women's Forum
The Laboratory Women's Forum will be held at the Lab on Oct. 26 and 27. The gathering, "New Directions: Women of Influence in the National Laboratories," will bring together over 100 women from labs across the country. A brown-bag meeting for those on the Hill interested in attending will be held Thursday, Sept. 9, at noon in Building 90-2063. For more information, call Laura Chen at x6117.
Workshops On Writing,
Tuition Reimbursement
The Administrative Services Department is sponsoring a class on the tuition reimbursement program (ASD9015) at the Lab at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 14, in Building 2-100B. The program's rules and requirements will be explained, and registration forms will be on hand. A Franklin Covey writing workshop (ASD 9015) will be held at 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 15 in Building 66-316. Here, participants can develop tools to communicate logically and concisely. Brown Bag Focuses
On E-Mail Encryption
Did
you know that by default every e-mail message you send is
in clear text and can thus be read by anyone who is snooping
on Internet traffic? Jay Krous of the Computer
Protection Program will discuss how to encrypt e-mail messages
at noon on Thursday in Perseverance Hall.
Construction Begins On
Walkway Near Bldg. 71
Work
to replace the pedestrian walkway on Chamberlain Road between
Building 90 and Building 71 begins today and continues through
the end September. About 100 feet of the old wooden walkway
will be replaced. Parking on both sides of the road in this
area will be restricted during construction. Pedestrian traffic
will be directed around the construction area. Vehicular traffic
will be redirected during construction activity and material
deliveries. Extra caution is urged by drivers using this route
to approach Building 90 at all times.
