Lab Scopes Out
Demand Response

Successful demand response requires more than just subjecting customers to the vagaries of wholesale power prices, says a new study by researchers at Berkeley Lab. Researchers looked closely at Niagara Mohawk's use of real-time pricing to shift and limit loads in response to hourly wholesale market price changes. Said Charles Goldman, the report's lead author, generally, customers are satisfied with real-time pricing as the default tariff, although some customers said that price hedging options are not attractively priced relative to perceived risks. Video of Birgeneau
On Berkeley Website

Those interested in learning more about new Berkeley Chancellor Robert Birgeneau can visit the campus' website to view a videotaped conversation between Birgeneau and Public Affairs head George Strait. During their discussion, the new Chancellor talks about being the first in his family to graduate from high school, his involvement in the Civil Rights movement, and his resulting lifelong dedication to ethnic and gender diversity and equality.
