Safety
Stats Still OK,
But Diligence Urged
It's
been almost eight months since Berkeley Lab launched
an accident awareness campaign to remind employees about
the importance of safety in the workplace. Chief among
the strategies were focused intervention, increased
management accountability, new performance goals for
managers, and a high-level discussion of accidents.
And the results are good accident statistics
are lower than they've ever been. But accident frequency
in a few recent months suggests some slippage, so the
appeal for the final weeks of this fiscal year is simple:
re-energize the effort to employ safe work practices.
"The Lab responded, and we are appreciative, but safety
must be ongoing, and we must reinforce the message,"
said Robin Wendt, Division Deputy for
Environment, Health and Safety. Read an accident update
here.
