Family
Health Quarterly
To Be Sent to Employees
A
quarterly newsletter published by the National
Safety Council (NSC), “Family Safety and Health,”
will begin to arrive at Berkeley Lab employees’
homes in September. A service supported by Deputy Director
Sally Benson and the Environment, Health and
Safety Division, the newsletter’s distribution
is intended to help employees with health and safety
issues in the home. Among its features are seasonal
stories that address issues present during that particular
time of year. The NSC is a federally chartered organization
having the mission to educate and influence society
to adopt safety, health and environmental policies,
practices and procedures that prevent and mitigate human
suffering.

Microsoft
To Release
Windows XP Service Pack
Microsoft
just announced that Service Pack 2 for Windows XP will
be pushed out to U.S. customers via their automatic
Windows update feature on Monday, August 16. ITSD, following
the lead of other organizations like IBM, has decided
to implement a Microsoft solution to temporarily block
this update for customers using Novell or Windows Active
Directory. If you have any questions, please call the
HelpDesk at x 4357. After ITSD completes testing on
these systems, the block will be reversed.
