Worm
Infecting Systems Through Bogus 'Patch'
A
new worm, the Swen (Win32.Swen.A) worm, is spreading
over the Internet. It infects systems through
a bogus Microsoft security bulletin that announces
a "September 2003 Cumulative Patch"
for Internet Explorer, Outlook and Outlook Express.
If you receive this e-mail message, do not open
the attachment. This worm also spreads via KaZaA
and Internet Relay Chat (IRC). E-mail messages
that purport to be a Microsoft security bulletin
should be deleted. As a further precaution, keep
your system's anti-virus software up to date. |
