‘Core’ Experiments
On Discovery Channel University
of California, Berkeley geophysicist Raymond Jeanloz and
Advanced Light Source physicist Simon Clark have been using
an ALS beamline to help re-create the heat and pressures found deep
inside the earth. Discovery Channel reported on their efforts to
“dig” into the earth’s core as the nation turned
out to see the fictionalized version in the movie “Core.”
Jeanloz and Clark are seeking to understand what the earth was like
