As announced late last month, Today at Berkeley Lab will become a web-based publication. The switch is scheduled for Monday, Nov. 15. Staff will still receive a daily e-mail with headlines for the day’s top stories, which will link to the TABL website. It’s just one click, but readers will get so much more. Among the benefits: posting of news as it is generated, instead of once a day; quick correction or removal of articles; collecting stories under commonly used tags (i.e. HR or safety); and posting of the day’s calendar events. The updates include a description of the third party in-putter of a requisition, along with screen shots of the updated electronic requisition forms, a clarification of the requirements for hazardous wastes from a radioactive materials management area, a reorganization of the Universal Waste requirements, a delineation of Lab requirements for managing waste from subcontractor activities, and correction of non-substantive typographical errors. All updated text is noted by red flags. For questions or comments, contact your Generator Assistant or Nancy Rothermich (x4644).
The Lab’s Arts Council is sponsoring a discount ticket promotion for the Great Dickens Christmas Fair, taking place Nov. 26 through Dec. 19 at the Cow Palace in San Francisco. To request tickets contact Cynthia Jones (x4242).
The Health Care Facilitator wants to remind employees that November is “National Family Caregiver Month.” Currently, there are more than 65 million family caregivers in this country. They become the people most familiar with their recipients’ medicine, exercise, treatment and dietary regimen. Based on daily demands, the role of a caregiver can become stressful. It is important to recognize your strengths and limitations, protect your own health, and reach out for assistance. More>
