Arkin is New PBD Division Director

Adam Arkin

Adam Arkin has been named as the new director of the Lab’s Physical Biosciences Division (PBD). His appointment is effective immediately. Paul Adams, who has served as acting division director since March 31, 2009, will remain as deputy division director. Arkin is a professor in the Department of Bioengineering at UC Berkeley and joined PBD in 1998. In 2002, he established the Virtual Institute for Microbial Stress and Survival research group. He is also the head of PBD’s Synthetic Biology Department and director of the Joint BioEnergy Institute’s Bioinformatics group. Arkin plans to build upon the cutting-edge science already taking place in PBD and align the division with Director Paul Alivisatos’s five strategies for the Lab. More>
