Delia Milliron and Emory Chan of the Molecular Foundry are featured in a new video about WANDA, a revolutionary nanocrystal-making robot that can produce nanocrystals with staggering precision. The video, produced by Roy Kaltschmidt of the Public Affairs Department, shows how this one-of-a-kind robot provides colloidal nanocrystals with custom-made properties for electronics, biological labeling and luminescent devices. Through unique software control protocols, even novice users can direct WANDA to perform complex workflows that traditionally require extensive chemistry experience. Gregory Bell has joined the Department of Energy's Energy Sciences Network (ESnet) as chief information strategist. In this newly formed position, Bell will integrate emerging technologies into the ESnet infrastructure, work with team members to develop guidance on complex IT issues, and drive collaboration across the organization in support of a shared vision. Following a switch to a new provider last August, the use of audio and web conferencing at the Lab has increased by 38 percent. Over 450 customers are using ReadyTalk as an efficient and cost effective way to conduct meetings. The web conferencing service is now free, and audio conference rates have been cut in half, due to the increased usage. Each account comes with 96 audio ports and free web conferencing.
