Watch Out for Those Telephone Cords

Telephone, power, and data cables can be the cause of serious injury. Recently a Lab employee inadvertently stepped into a loop of telephone wire under his desk, got up to walk out of his office and, with his left foot caught, fell forward so quickly he was unable to use his arms to stop. The employee's face hit the edge of a desk, causing a laceration between the eyes and a very big headache. Telephone jacks and electrical and data connections should be located so that cords do not cross paths of travel in and around the work area. If furniture or equipment is relocated, re-check for looped or trailing cables in paths of travel.

Those who complete the survey can enter their e-mail address into a drawing for one of 20 $5 Starbucks gift certificates. The e-mail prompt is separate from the survey, so anonymity is preserved. The survey will be open until Friday.
