The Lab's Information Technology Division (IT) is redesigning its website and invites employees to take a brief survey to determine what customer needs are. The survey is open through Tuesday, Sept. 8. Go here to take the survey.
The Telephone Service Center provides installation, maintenance, facilities, and business management resources to support the Lab's telephone, data, and networking needs. The group is now issuing a quarterly newsletter to help employees stay informed and learn about the many services available. The unleaded and diesel pumps that were out of order for a couple of weeks due to repair are now back in operation. However, the ethanol E85 pump remains down until further notice.
After five years in the Lab's annual summer softball league, the Silver and Black team has finally captured their first championship, in dramatic fashion. They came back from a 4-1 deficit in their first playoff game against SUDZ to win 13-6. And in the championship game against Rated X, they were down 4-2 before tying the game in the fifth inning. Then, with the bases loaded, Mayra Rivas (ALS) hit a base-clearing double to put the team on top for a final victory of 8 to 5. Congratulations Silver and Black. Employee Activities: Lab's Asian Association Hosts Moon Cake PartyThe Berkeley Lab Asian Association, with the support from Employee Activities Association, will host a Moon Cake party Thursday to recognize the traditional Mid-autumn Festival. Moon cakes, drinks, and fruits will be provided. The event — which celebrates abundance, togetherness and the mythical Moon Goddess Chang O — dates back to China's Song Dynasty over 1,000 years ago. The party takes place from 4 to 5:30 p.m. in Perseverance Hall.
