Statement From Interim Lab Director Paul Alivisatos on Graham Fleming Appointment as UC Berkeley Vice Chancellor for Research

Graham Fleming is an inspired choice for Vice Chancellor for Research. Because Graham's position is pivotal to the Laboratory-Campus relationship, we at Berkeley Lab are particularly pleased. Graham distinguished himself at the Lab as the founding director of the Physical Biosciences Division and most recently as the Deputy Laboratory Director. He recognized the value of enhancing interactions between the Campus and the Laboratory to address the most pressing problems in scientific research. We look forward to working with him to leverage the strengths of both institutions toward this end.
